The Answering Machine unveil iPhone app
I've been an unabashed fan of The Answering Machine since first hearing them in late 2007 courtesy of Paul from Artrocker magazine. Call me old-fashioned but I'm still a fanboy of extremely catchy, upbeat indie rock with lyrics you can belt out at the top of your lungs. Last year's Another City, Another Sorry was stuffed with 'em.
Following UK dates opening for Ra Ra Riot and the Manic Street Preachers last year, TAM played to an overflow crowd at the Monolith Festival (which sadly, it appears, will be the final one) before a series of shows at CMJ and a month-long New York residency.
They've just completed recording album number two, which they've self-produced and is slated for a late 2010 or early 2011 release. In the meantime, they've launched a free iPhone app which offers news, songs, videos, and other goodies. You can get yours here, and gain access to some exclusive downloads including an acoustic Girls Aloud cover and by gosh who wouldn't miss a chance to hear that?
In the meantime, enjoy newly released footage, exclusive to The Big Beat, of a tune off Another City, Another Sorry recorded at T in The Park 2009.
